An American Werewolf in London
A RE-RELEASE
Released in 1981, An American Werewolf in London has become a cult classic, and an icon in the horror genre. 35 years later and its visual effects have stood the test of time. Considering its success and recognition within the industry, this film deserved a new look. I redesigned the films branding, which led to new packaging for its anniversary re-release.
LOGO TREATMENTS
I began by analyzing the films overarching theme of duality, which led to further research into the field of psychology. I became fascinated with Rorschach ink tests, and after countless trials, I was able to create the wolf image seen on the cover. The original image was completely analog and only took minor digital tweaking to create the final result. While it was possible to create the image digitally, I felt that taking a hands-on approach was the most genuine way to create the ink blot. I had to develop a process that would allow me to force the final image while maintaining subtle organic mistakes.
